Castello Castle Sintra Portogallo Castle

Visiting the municipality of Sintra, you will immediately understand why it is included in the Unesco list. Fairytale castles, stunning beaches and good food await you in this area of Portgoallo. Getting around by car is essential. I sincerely recommend at least 3 days to visit the main points of interest, which I summarize in this map, for organizing your trip on the road easly with these itineraries:

Dalai Lama

hotel albergo arribas sintra Portogallo

Arribas Sintra Hotel

Always open

This property is perfect for visiting Sintra, as well as offering an unforgettable ocean view. On the adjacent beach you will see surfers from the early hours of the morning.

Praia da adagra sea mare beach spiaggia

Praia da Adraga

Always open

This beach is located inside a natural basin on the ocean. I recommend the fish restaurant on site. You can also admire the landscape by following a trekking path adjacent to the parking lot. You can also try the surf school on the beach.

Azenhas do mar sea mare beach spiaggia P

Azenhas Do Mar

Always open

Perched village that recalls our Amalfi Coast. The famous fish restaurant with a wonderful view: Restaurante Piscina Azenhas do Mar.

I recommend booking a table. The prices are quite high, but it's a must-see if you're in the area.

Cabo Do ROca sea mare beach spiaggia Por

Cabo Do

Always open

Beautiful terrace with ample parking, represents the westernmost point of Europe. The view is wonderful, but I recommend a nice jacket or sweatshirt even in the height of summer: the wind is so strong that it moves you!

Il Pollo alla Churrascaria Somos Um Rega

Chicken Churrascaria

For lunch or dinner

I absolutely recommend tasting the roasted chicken with or without spicy in some Sintra Churrascaria. In particular, in my opinion the best is the Churrascaria Somos Um Regalo where, however, you have to book, to avoid long queues.

Quinta da Regaleria Parco nazionale di s

Sintra National Park

Variable times based on the attraction

The Park complex contains several Unesco Patrinmonio attractions. It is not possible to drive to Quinta da Regaleira or the Palacio Nacional. Below is a map of where to park (Largo Fernando Formigal de Morais - Sintra) and then continue on foot or by calling a guide on an "Ape Car Cabrio", recommended, as the distances are long. Contact me in private if you want the number to book the ride. The price is very low.

SINTRA - Largo Fernando Formigal de Mor
Quinta da Regaleria Parco nazionale di s

Quinta da Regaleira

Times Variable according to the period. From April to September from 09:30 to 20:00

The estate is, in my opinion, the most interesting part of the whole Sintra complex. The alchemical and esoteric references are clear, such as the two wells that descend in a spiral and on which there are several legends linked to the Masonic meetings carried out secretly in those tunnels.

castelo dos mouros castello castle nazio

Castelo Dos Mouros

From 10:00 to 18:00

The ruins of the castle offer a breathtaking view, because they overlook the main beauties of Sintra. The structure is of Moorish origin, but the current building is the result of a renovation carried out in the 19th century.

Castello Castle Sintra Portogallo Castle

Palacio de Pena

From 9:30 to 18:30

Visiting Pena Palace You will feel like you are in a fairy tale, given the pastel colors and the shape of the princely castle. The palace was built by Maria II of Braganza as a wedding gift for her husband King Ferdinand II of Portugal.

If you still have time, going north for a few kilometers, you have 2 points of interest that are absolutely worth visiting:

  1. Nazarè : beautiful coastal city known throughout the world for being a surfer's paradise

  2. Forte de São João Baptista : fortress dating back to 1651, easily accessible from Peniche by speedboat. There is also a hostel if you want to stay overnight.
